VIGIL ALERT ("we", "our", "us") is a free crisis intelligence platform operated at vigilalert.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information.
Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and name. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your Google profile name and email.
Country & Preferences: You select your country and region to receive personalized crisis alerts. We store your notification preferences and preparedness checklist progress.
Rumor Submissions: When you submit a claim for verification through our app or WhatsApp bot, we store the claim text, verification result, and submission method. We do not store your phone number from WhatsApp beyond what is necessary to send the verification response.
Usage Data: We use anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used. We do not track individual behavior or sell any data.
We use your information solely to provide personalized crisis alerts and cost predictions for your region, verify rumor submissions, send push notifications for critical events you opt into, and improve the accuracy of our crisis intelligence system. We never sell your data. We never share personal information with third parties except as required by law.
We use artificial intelligence (Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude) to classify news events, verify rumors, and generate cost predictions. Your rumor submissions may be processed by these AI services. No personal identifying information is sent to AI services — only the claim text.
Our WhatsApp rumor verification bot (+91 97588 25378) receives messages you forward to it. We process the message content to verify claims against our database. We do not store your phone number permanently or share it with anyone. Message content may be stored anonymously to improve our rumor detection system.
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (cloud database) with row-level security policies. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with encrypted passwords. We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission.
You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. You can request a copy of your data by contacting us. You can opt out of push notifications through your browser or device settings.
